Introducing the News Beat Podcast 'Cypher'
Hosted by Manny Faces, our inaugural episode features hip-hop maestro and Innocence Project Ambassador Silent Knight!
Since music is such a huge ingredient of our special sonic sauce melding hard-hitting independent journalism and indie hip-hop, we created an additional platform to further explore the craft, meaning, and purveyors of words and rhythm and rhymes to elevate social justice issues: the News Beat Podcast Cypher.
Our host is none other than pod god Manny Faces, and once a month, he’ll be sharing the mic with a constant rotation of hip-hop artists, creators, and activists and delving deep into the craftsmanship and intrinsic magic that happens as syllables bounce off each other while wielded to illuminate topics and issues that demand change.
Our inaugural episode, which just dropped, features prolific hip-hop flamethrower Silent Knight.
Longtime listeners are no strangers to his distinct voice and profound work—not only as News Beat's Artist in Residence, but as a solo artist, frontperson for our good friends and co-award-winning collaborators The Band Called FUSE, and an Innocence Ambassador for the renowned nonprofit Innocence Project, which works to exonerate the wrongly convicted through DNA.
Find out a little bit more about SK, as he’s affectionately known, his polka infatuation (?!?), and much more on this origin episode of the News Beat Cypher, and expect insights from a wide range of other incredible artists Every. Single. Month.
